The Chapter was invited to be involved in speaking and attending the event in September in Johannesburg.

DWS: 2024 Water and Sanitation National Youth Indaba

The Chapter was an invited speaker at one of the sessions of the Youth Indaba in July.

Day 1: Mendy Shazi was a panellist in the session on "Intergenerational Dialogue – Youth actively embracing the socio-economic gains of our democracy in the WASH Sector"

Day 2: Zintie Mbeka was involved in the session on "The role of youth in the water sector and actively embracing the socioeconomic gains of our Democracy"

Wavemakers United

The Chapter signed an MOU with Wavemakers United to be ambassadors and a part of the South African Committee.

The Valuing Water Initiative (VWI)

Launched by the Dutch Government, aims to showcase the implementation of the Valuing Water Principles (VWP) to bring systemic change in how water is valued in policy, practice, finance and behaviour and to inspire others to do the same.

The initiative focussed on the opportunity to inform the UN 2023 Water Conference about progress made across Africa. In the run up to the Conference, regional and global preparatory events took place. The RSAVPP project related to the UN Water Conference was used as the working template and the Chapter signed the Valuing Water Charter in 2023.

New York, USA

Took part in the UN 2023 Water Conference in New York, USA, as a delegation of 5 members who hosted multiple side events and were invited guests in numerous others.

RSAYPW Documentary

"Too much water; Too little water; Too polluted water"

Produced and shot a mini-documentary showcasing the critical water challenges facing our communities.

South African Youth Water Action Plan & Call to Action

Developed the Plan in February, with other youth organisations operating in South Africa, and workshopping the Plan at the United Nations 2023 Water Conference during a side event in the UNRG (March).
